What is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic care focuses on restoring the proper function of your spine. This is important because most of the information that your body needs to operate comes from your brain. This information travels by way of your spinal cord. If the individual vertebra moves out of position, (pinched nerve, for example), it could diminish or prevent the vital commands from reaching the cells, tissues, and organs of your body. That would cause improper function, pain, or the like.

Does it hurt?

In most cases, it doesn’t hurt at all! There are times where, because of swelling or muscle pain, you might feel soreness from Chiropractic treatment. This is normally pretty minimal, especially compared to the discomfort without treatment.

Why should I choose you as my Chiropractor?

Simply put, I’ve been in the business for a long time! As you’ve probably read a few times already, I’ve been in private practice for over 35 years. Several thousand patients have trusted my treatment and benefited from it. In fact, you can see what a few of them said over on the testimonials page Most of the patients that have come in for treatment were referred to me by either former or current patients! That means so much to me, as a referral from a patient is the highest compliment a doctor can receive.

Are you on my Insurance?

I am on many plans! I am on most of the larger plans in Florida such as: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida PPO, United Health Care PPO, Aetna PPO, Cigna PPO, and Medicare. I am on many Medicare replacement plans as well. Auto insurance coverage is mandatory for car owners in Florida, and that also covers chiropractic treatment. For those on other plans that aren’t listed, contact me and we can find out! Even if you are not on a covered plan, we can work a personal pay program on a case by case basis.

What should I expect on my first visit?

When you come in for your first appointment, you’ll need to fill out a bit of paperwork. I offer these first time visit forms on this website, that way you have the option to print and fill them out before coming in to your first visit. That’ll help get the paperwork out of the way and let us get straight to your treatment! Please make sure to bring your ID and insurance card. If you suffered injuries in a car accident, I’ll need the related insurance claim number and your insurance company’s phone number. Once the paperwork is completed, we can begin! I will take a moment to review your past medical history, perform a detailed examination and make an assessment of your injuries, and, if necessary, take X-Rays. Then, we can go over your results and figure out the appropriate treatment options.

Why do I have to go to the chiropractor’s office so often when I start my care?

To put it simply, when you get sick, you receive medicine. Oftentimes, you take that medication for several days, even weeks! The more serious the illness, the more medication you may need to get better. Chiropractic care is the same except, instead of medicine, your treatment involves manual realignment of the spine, X-Rays to pinpoint any issues, as well as other methods of care. The only reason why it feels more frequent than medicinal treatment is because Chiropractic care is location-specific; you have to go into an office to receive treatment!

Are Chiropractors doctors?

Absolutely! Chiropractors are licensed doctors in all 50 states. The main difference is that Chiropractors focus primarily on natural treatments through the alignment of the spine instead of prescribing medicine. If you take a look at my about me, you’ll see that Chiropractors, like all other types of doctors, require a significant amount of schooling, which is regulated by the government.¬†

Once I start Chiropractic treatment, do I have to go for the rest of my life?

This is actually a common misconception. The simple answer is no, you don’t!¬†Chiropractic treatment is meant to realign the spine, aid in the restoration of your health and help you get back to normal life. That being said, many patients choose to continue treatment after their condition has been helped because they feel so much better with continued care.
